Hi everyone. Yes, it's been a while, the time has gone so fast. I hope everyone is well and enjoying the fact that we're heading towards the summer.
So straight into the news...
Two days ago I launched a new FaceBook group called Kathryn Morgan Knits. It all sounds a bit formal doesn't it but I'm hoping we will be able to capture (is that the right word?) people who don't know me yet. Perhaps when we've grown and my name is a little better known I can change it a bit to take into account that I'm always known as Kath.
Anyway, the launch came about after much thought about how I can engage with you more and what I can do for you in the future as well as producing knitting patterns. So half way through the day on Monday my group was set up. By the end of the day (and that's usually by about 10pm for me) we had 30 members. I was so excited I was speechless and that doesn't happen often! I really would love to see this group grow and grow. We have 34 members now. Some are knitters, some are crocheters and many love both. I am so excited about getting together with the group, to share photos, stories, memories, techniques etc etc.
My plan:
I will engage with you every day in the group.
I will do live broadcasts in which I will share tips, techniques, show and tell, introduce new projects and patterns, and general chatty stuff.
I will do short videos for entertainment and information.
There will be giveaways, dedicated members coupons and special offers and so much more.
I have already been given a crochet pattern for a lacy scarf by my very lovely friend Trisha Boyd. She is a talented crocheter but has loads of skills in sewing and knitting, and she has given the pattern to us free of charge! So I'll be putting it in the FILES section of the group for you to download and enjoy. Look for it later on today! I'm going to have a go at it, although my crochet skills are very limited, and I'll do a FB live to show you how I've got on once I've started. It may be awful, but I'll learn and we can all have a giggle at my attempt! Thank you so much Trisha for the pattern and your support.
I am making good progress on the next pattern for the website, so on Tuesday 2nd May I will be live in the group at 7pm to show you what I've done and explain what it will be. There, I've given myself a deadline now so I'll have to get on with it. I'm possibly about half way through.
Please tell your friends about the group. They don't have to be experienced knitters or crocheters but just need an interest in these soft crafts and maybe a desire to learn. The more people that join us, the more fun we'll have and the more resources as everyone without exception, has something to offer.
As many of you know, I work with Lizzy Curtis in a sewing/designing/pattern editing/admin capacity so this arm of my business - my website, facebook page and group will concentrate just on yarn things, no sewing patterns. You can find anything I do sewing related on Lizzy's website. I do intend to use my sewing skills here though and will integrate sewing into some of my knitting patterns from time to time, so watch this space for that.
I think that's enough waffling for now. Please get in touch by email if you have any requests, questions or suggestions and I will answer every one. Please join the FB group and ask questions there. Show your friends how to join and help me build a small community of crazy yarn lovers. Please share my Facebook page too!
See you soon, thank you all for supporting me. It's still early days in my little business and I can only grow with your support.
Kath xx
PS - I've just set up a YouTube channel too but that's another story...

Well done with the new FB Group AND YouTube - you’re spoiling us xxx
